SFRPD: Leasure Services
One of the great pluses of working for the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department is their wide variety of departments and services. I was approced by the Leasure Services Department to create posters and promotional items for their classes and events. Each department in the SFRPD is as colorful and eclectic as the neighborhoods they represent. Leasure Services and such places as the Eureka Valley Recreation Center are no exception. It is very gratefying to work for a department that is so dedicated to enriching the lives of San Francisco residents.
Harvey Milk Photo Center
The Harvey Milk Photo Center is the largest public darkroom in the country which provides classes, training and a space to showcase your work. Being a graphic designer for the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department I often have to design promotional materials and brochures. When designing for the Photo Center I perfer to minimalize the design and showcase the photography with bold white type.
Photosynth
For this project at the Academy of Art I had to create a poster and software box for the introduction of the Photosynth software by Microsoft. From concept to completion I learned the discipline of following through on a concept that turned out to be more time consuming then first thought. It was one of my first projects in college that made my feel confident in my abilities. I used Photoshop and my photography collection for all the images.
Myopsis
Myopsis is my first original font creation. Inspired by those translucent worm like creatures you see in your vision sometimes. Myopsis explores typography with smooth rounded corners and sharp points to express a futuristic approch to type. For this project I created a few posters and a font specimen book.
Muir Woods
For this project at the Academy of Art I had to create a campaign for the Muir Woods centennial celebration. Along with a poster I had to create a logo and promotional items to complete the campaign. I took a day trip to Muir Woods for reasearch and schoot photography. What a beautiful hideway so close to the city.
